Different from the softwood core of Chinese and Russian Birch Plywood is poplar or birch, the source of material for FOMEX Birch Plywood is Hardwood core like Eucalyptus, Acacia,... which is the reason why the core we have is more solidity and durability than Chinese or Russian Birch Plywood.
In FOMEX, not only Birch plywood but all products are also primarily made of Eucalyptus and Acacia. We have a sliced veneers factory in Nghe An Province, where have large forests planted with these two types of trees in Vietnam.
Source of the surface veneer
White Birch surface veneer is typically a pale cream to a pink-tinged light yellow wood that ages to a deep pale gold color. It is not only a softwood wood easy to work with but it also has a smooth texture, tight uniform grain, and satiny sheen.
In Vietnam, we do not have Birch trees, so, we basically import Birch surface veneers from Russia and China.
Source of the core veneer
The core veneer is also called Veneer, which is sliced from natural wood such as eucalyptus or rubber wood. At present, the core veneer is the main material and also a raw material for the production of plywood used in the field of furniture of its outstanding advantages: first is cheap, reasonable, and savings material to protect forest resources.
Vietnam is known as one of the countries that have many types of hardwood trees in Asia. Eucalyptus is one of the popular materials of plywood. The thickness of the boards used to fill is from 1.5mm to 2.5mm.
They are used for stacking layers, the number of layers depends on the thickness of the plywood produced. Besides that, depending on the requirements of each use, eucalyptus board can be used as a core, or sewn into the large sizes and used for secondary surfaces.
Acacia
Besides Eucalyptus, Acacia core veneer is also commonly used for the production of plywood. Acacia Wood Veneer is reddish to dark brown with regular dark brown zones marking the growth rings showing as black lines. The grain is sometimes wavy or curly, producing fiddle-back figures.
Source of the glue
The glue is an important part of the process to produce the Birch Plywood, which is UF and MF Glue with formaldehyde emission standards E0 and E1 Carb P2.
These glues are currently manufactured and distributed in Vietnam. On the other hand, the plywood supplier in Vietnam in general and FOMEX in particular still partially import from China. Therefore, the glue supply comes from a variety of sources other than the domestic market.
